Sonu Sood arranged a special aircraft to airlift 167 Odia girls stuck in Ernakulam amid lockdown
After arranging buses and food for thousands of stranded migrants, Bollywood actor Sonu Sood has now airlifted 167 workers stuck in Kerala amid the lockdown. The Dabangg actor has truly emerged as the messiah for the migrant workers.
Stuck in Kerala’s Ernakulam, 167 women, engaged in stitching and embroidery work at a local factory were seeking to return to their homes in Odisha. They had nowhere to go after the factory was shut down in view of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Simmba actor arranged a special aircraft for the stranded women after getting to know about their plight from a close friend in Bhubaneswar. He took required permission from Kochi and Bhubaneshwar airport authorities.
On Friday morning, Sood made arrangements for an aircraft to fly from Bengaluru to Kochi at 8am to airlift the 167 workers. This Air Asia flight will take them to Bhubaneshwar and from there, they will be transported to their homes in Kendrapara.
Sonu Sood has launched a toll-free number for those, who wish to return to home. He is also extending help to the people, who are contacting him on Twitter.
